This week's bookshelves are from Ayl.
I am green with envy for her family room (top photo). Just look at that elegant bookshelf. And everything looks so, ummm, clean. (I can imagine Martha Stewart walking in any minute.) I wonder what the titles are in the middle photo though.
Ayl's son (bottom photo) is lucky to be growing up in a home that's reader friendly. One can never be too young to appreciate books.

those black bookshelves are lovely. look how deep each shelf is (that or the books are really small).
I agree that the first picture is very pretty. Way to intimidate the rest of us! My house rarely looks that neat :)
I do like the shelves around the ceiling, I would like some like that.
@Line of flight: Yes, the black bookshelf is gorgeous. It contrasts well with the white walls.
@Stacy: I think none of our houses look this neat.
@Viviene: I actually have this kind of shelf in my room. It's not as orderly as this one though.
I'd love to have a room just for books - a library, climate controlled, glass enclosed shelves, the works!! Wouldn't that be nice:)
Hi Peter! Thanks for the feature, and I'm so delighted with the lovely comments. Gosh, if I'd only known about you all a cpuple of years ago. The black bookshelves in the first pic are actually dark brown, and were very reasonably priced. We gave them up when we shifted to the built-in white ones (2nd photo) early last year. We live in a small apartment and need every inch of space, especially with a small child and so many books. The dark brown shelves were donated to an orphanage - we wanted to give them to friends but no one had a big enough vehicle to take them away. Still, hopefully they are put to good use.
As to the neatness, the photos were taken just as we finished organizing them - they are nowhere near as neat now :)
Hi Lya! You're very much welcome! Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
I especially love the wall-to-wall bookshelf. This is a cool event. I did my post more like a meme. Here's mine: http://j-kaye-book-blog.blogspot.com/2009/08/post-picture-of-your-bookshelf.html
