The Bookshelf Project #7

This week's bookshelves projects are from Contempo, who was kind enough to send three closeup shots.

I love that all the books are covered in plastic. This is someone who truly values books. Contempo also has varied tastes -- there's fantasy, autobiographies, manga, etc. And I can see that Special Topics in Calamity Physics is there as well, which is one very, very good novel.

What do you think of her collection, dear reader?

Very neat. An Umberto Eco reader! Looks like the top shelf is starting to sag in the middle, probably weighed down by the books.

That's a pretty stacked shelf. I wanna send in mine too.

@Stepford Mum: Yes, one of the things that struck me with the bookshelf is its neatness. Not a speck of dust to be seen.

@FilBlogger: Hey, thanks for dropping by! Send me your pictures as well!

SM is right about the top shelf sagging--in the first photo, but not in the second!

And I think covering books in plastic is a Filipino cultural thing.

Neat bookshelves.

I do think that wrapping books in plastic is a Filipino cultural thing. Perhaps it has something to do with the weather and climate. A tropical climate is never book-friendly.

So true, Peter. When I studied college in the Philippines, all my books were wrapped in plastic. I didn't have to worry about getting my books covered when I came back here to the US since we only have two to three summer months.

Hello, Helen! Which college did you go to?

Helen said...

Hey, Peter. I went to De La Salle- Dasmarinas in Cavite. I was a BS Bio graduate. I graduated in 1998. How about you? Where did you go to college?

Peter S. said...

Hello, Helen! I went to UP. I had the same course as you! I graduated in 1995. I love the DLSU-Dasmarinas campus, Helen! So idyllic!

Helen said...

Thanks. The campus looks so much better now, and they were improving it when I left. I almost went to UP, but I didn't want to deal with too much traffic. I lived in Las Pinas then.

I was just about to comment regarding the plastic covers to. I'd love to cover my books also but plastic sometimes don't work too well with cheap paperback editions. :(

I love that there's such a variety - Anna Quindlen, Paulo Coelho, Margaret Atwood, AND manga! Awesome :)

This is such a great idea. I want to send my pictures in. I've been banned in my house from getting any additional bookcases for a while (which is crazy since I only have 2!). Now my shelves are all double lined and I'm very quickly running out of room!

@Patrick: Try the gauge 8 plastic covers.

@Cynthia: Yes, send your pictures! I would love to see them.

@Sheila: Thanks. I love receiving these pictures as well.
