I finally grabbed a copy of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. There may be only 9 sentences in this picture book, but it's one of the most beautiful books I've ever laid my hands on. Sendak's illustrations are so detailed and wonderfully rendered.
I'm not a big fan of picture books since I don't pay attention to illustrations that much, but I fell in love with all the lovable creatures Sendak has created. Also, I think that we all have a childhood experience similar to what Max had.

I can't wait for the movie to come out. *clap, clap*
Same here! I can't wait. Judging by the trailer, I think the movie's going to be faithful to the book.
i love the trailer. not fond of story books either but i just love the characters there.
we went to see Drag Me to Hell at alabang town center a few weeks ago and the trailer for the movie came on and I turned to him after like 2 seconds of the trailer and said "This has to be a movie based on 'Where the Wild Things Grow'" I don't even remember what those seven sentences were but the imagery apparently is deeply imprinted in my head somewhere. Sure enough, that is what it is.
Hey, Peter! I love this book. Used to read it to my boy every night. Needless to say, he's a little Max. Check out this great tribute site to the book: http://www.terribleyelloweyes.com/
