Chris mentions that he has almost 6,000 books! I just love his collection of Penguins, both old and new. And he says:
I've never particularly worried about shelving my books since I was one of those weird kids who spent every spare penny of pocket money on the things and probably first started running out of proper shelf space for them when I was 8.I can totally relate to that! What do you think of Chris's bookshelves and his book collection, dear reader?

WOW....now there are enough books there to open a store :)
Hi, Diane! I know! Envy is me.
Great collection! Ooh, I want a closer look at those Green Penguins Crime novels!
Hi, Mrs. B! I completely forgot that those with green spines are Penguin Crime!
thank you everybody! it's the product of about twenty five years of intense book buying and about as much grumbling from parents, housemates and now the wife about lack of space...
wow. I am in the UK too. You should send me his address so i can steal his books. :)
@Cris: Thanks for sharing these pictures with us!
@Hagelrat: LOL!
Wow, its thanks to posts like this that I feel less bad about the amount of books I own. Thanks for this Chris and of course Peter.
Hi, savidgereads! You're welcome!
Hi Peter - saw your comment on my blog. Where have you seen Persephone books in Manila? I haven't seen them anywhere. I'm happy to lend you Saplings sometime if you want.
Wow, you can practically hear the shelves groaning under the weight.
@Mrs. B: I think I saw one at BestSellers Galleria.
@UW: LOL! If those shelves could talk!
I lust for those old green Penguins! And it's a good thing the UK isn't prone to earthquakes—I'd be nervous sitting under those shelves if it was.
So, Peter, are you going to shrinkwrap Chris's collection for him?
Holy cow! That's a lot of books!
6,000 books- Amazing! As usual I am quite envious ~
Wow, that's a lot. I'm pretty sure one day my house will be taken over by books. I just can't part with them.
@Charlie: I will if he lets me. Hehe.
@j. Kaye: It is! Crazy!
@StephanieD: Me too!
@Michelle: Oh, I bet we all have that fear.
All I can do is go slack jawed and stare in awe. What a fantastic collection.
I have an award for you by the way:
