After reading the responses I have determined that if the intro isn't written by the author, then I will read it after I finish the book, if at all.

Although I will say for older fiction it is sometimes good to at least scan it ahead of time as they sometimes explain context that is helpful in understanding the book.Thomas Hogglestockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14284352537015457974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7879483355240373611.post-67690315532143457452009-09-23T17:30:27.247+08:002009-09-23T17:30:27.247+08:00Hello, Something's Dishy! Here in Australia Penguin has started bringing out books with the original orange covers, I love them. My first penguins were often bought second hand so they had the earlier simple covers. The other plus with the orange penguins is the price, they are selling for less then $10 aussie dollars, most paperbacks are more than double that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7879483355240373611.post-44066522979231094372009-09-23T05:23:42.230+08:002009-09-23T05:23:42.230+08:00I also either read the introduction not at all or ...I also either read the introduction not at all or when I am done-with the exception of works I may be rereadingMel uhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08714473754458914681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7879483355240373611.post-78952188766808427912009-09-23T04:18:51.397+08:002009-09-23T04:18:51.397+08:00I love these new covers. I don't want a detailed analysis before I read a book—I want to read it, form my own thoughts and opinions, and then maybe scan the intro.

BTW, Penguin isn't the only one who does it: so does Modern Library.Charliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00722567671925063706noreply@blogger.com
