The Bookshelf Project #11

Guess whose bookshelves are these? Yes, they're mine!

Siobhan, a journalist for the BBC, featured my thoughts on bookshelves in her article for the BBC magazine. Check it out here.

The bookcases are actually near the ceiling, covering about half of my room. The rest of my books are in somewhat disorderly bookcases, so I'm not showing them here. Hehehe. And my ever growing TBR pile is on the floor.

So what do you think of my bookshelves, dear reader?

I like them. You don't have to worry about curious little children grabbing them if they were lower on the wall. And your guests won't be able to walk off with one or two. :)

Hi, Harvee! Thanks for dropping by again! Fortunately, I don't have to worry about children getting their dirty little hands on my books, since I'm not planning on having kids! Hehehe.

Wow! I love them! I love the style, colour, everything. Right out of the way instead of a standard bookcase. :-D

Man, these are awesome! I love'em! So you headed to my house to fix me up some just like it, eh? LOL!

I'm very jealous of your bookshelves. They're so neat!

And wow! on that BBC article quoting you.:)

looks great! Only, how do you reach them? I would probably need a little ladder or a stool and still have some troubles (yes, I do have major balance issues) :)

Peter S. said...

@Ceri: Thanks. I had those specially made to match the color of my room.

@Krista: Hahaha. Come to think of it, I could make a career fixing other people's bookshelves.

@eye_spy: Thanks! I wanna see your bookshelves too!

@fantaghiro23: I know! I couldn't believe it myself!

@lilly: It's a good thing I'm a bit tall!

I wish my house had high enough ceilings to have shelves like that! Emailing you pics of my shelves soon... books in every room in the house except the bathroom (I will NOT HAVE crinkled pages).

A great idea, Peter, putting them up near the ceiling. Now all you have to do is work on your TBR pile!

The interview was great too. I especially liked your crack about the ice queen.

Now that you're famous at the BBC, will you please autograph the inside of my computer screen?

love your shelves! they are in such an unusual place. reminds me of the shelves in the movie who's afraid of virginia woolf starring elizabeth taylor and richard burton.

Now this is how I would like my book cases. Though knowing me, I would whack my head on the corners.

Your shelves look fabulous. I'd need a ladder to get to them though LOL

Peter S. said...

@Carolyn: I can't wait for your pictures!

@Charlie: LOL! You crack me up!

@vvb32reads: I haven't seen that movie. Hmmm.... It made me curious though.

@Viviene: Thankfully, they're designed in a way and position that you won't bump your head into them.

@Diane: Thanks!

Loving your bookshelves! Mine are quite traditional, Billy from Ikea - speaking of which, thanks for the link to the BBC article, I'll feature it in one of my future posts! :)

Peter S. said...

Hi, bookalicious! I've always wanted a Billy!

Dinah said...

and BBC? whoa, congrats! and what you said is true, have to agree:-)

Peter S. said...

Hello, Dinah! Thanks! Hehehe. In my case, since I don't have kids, my books are safe from guests who want to bring them home.

Loved the article. Very quotable. And your shelves are so neat. I'm envious.

Peter S. said...

Thanks, StephanieD! I only took a picture of my neat shelves. The rest are so embarrassing to post!

Love the color...one of my favorites. I need to get my organized better than I may get pictures sent to you.

Great article by the way.

Hi, Ryan! Thanks! Send me your pictures soon!

Those are awesome bookshelves! In my old house in Wisconsin, we had built in shelves. I miss that.

Peter S. said...

Hi Amanda! Thanks for dropping by. I love built in shelves as well. Although I wouldn't mind having a Billy.

Stepford Mum said...

Good thing you are tall! The shelves are so neatly ordered, and you can see all your books standing to attention like soliders in plastic wrap :)

Peter S. said...

Hello, Lya! Plastic wrap is my favorite thing! (next to books of course)

You're famous, Peter! BBC is quoting you! Lovely looking books so neatly arranged on your shelves. Will never show you my bookcase. LOL!

Peter S. said...

Hello, Jo! Thanks! I really would love to see your bookshelves.

Oh these are excellent and I am having total shelf envy! I am in my reading room right now thinking how I could run a shelf that high along the top of the room to fit in yet more books...LOL

LJTradcat said...

Hmm, very neat and orderly - but you've got no rooom to put extra books horizontally on top of the vertical ones...of prime importance to my mind!
Btw, I noticed a Tweet saying that you hope to one day read a Jane Austen all the way through; I absolutely can't live without her, and read some nearly every day...I've got three copies of Pride and Prejudice, and two copies of nearly all the others - once you get used to the language and the slightly different meanings of some words JA's an absolute delight, and one I'm totally addicted to!

Those bookshelves look great!

Peter S. said...

@bookjourney: Thanks, Sheila!

@Cynewyn: I'll be sure to post my thoughts on Pride and Prejudice since I'm reading it next.

@nanscorner: Thanks!

Peter S. said...

Hello, Rebecca! Thanks for dropping by. I hope you check out my blog often.

I like your bookshelves! I want one for me except my room's too small already. I guess I just have to make the most of the huge monster cabinets my dad had made for my room before we moved to the house we're now in.

pa-autograph, peter! =P

@kookooo: Thanks for dropping by. I would still love to see your shelves though.
