The Bookshelf Project #10

This week's pictures of bookshelves are from Tina, a fellow book blogger. I'm including two pictures here -- one with the shelves without the books (a much older picture) and a more recent one with the books on display.

I love that the bookcases cover the entire wall, leaving out just the space for the doors. I can spend all day in a room like this one. Tina has such wonderful aesthetic taste, don't you think?

Peter...I'm honored...wish I could say the rest of the house looks as cool as those pictures. I'm beginning to think books are related to wire hangars -- if you put two of them on a shelf (or in a closet) and go away, while you're gone they breed and you suddenly have a shelf full of books or a closet full of hangars!!! I'll never have enough shelves, but that's ok...as long as I have books to read and a spare square foot of floor or box to begin a new stack, I'm happy.

Thanks for this great feature.

That's a fantastic library room. I wish I could afford to have one like this :(

I am so jealous of those book shelves.

I LOVE floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. And I wish books DID multiply like hangars.

This wall is making me drool. I'm already trying to figure out where I can do that in our house...

This is my dream!! When I get the house I want this is what is going to be in one room. I love the bookshelves covering the walls completely. This is what I want to do.

Love it!!

I tried but for some reason not everyone in the house wants a wall of books. There is hope, my daughter got married and she's cleaning out her room... mine, all mine....

@Tina: I can never have enough shelves as well! I am so envious that you have this room.

@Michelle: It is, isn't it?

@Lilly: I wish that too.

@Viviene: I think half of us here are drooling just by looking at Tina's shelves.

@Charlie: That's a fun thought.

@Stacy: I can't wait to see it after you've done something like this!

@Melissa: This is my dream as well. I'm slowly getting there.

@Book Dragon: I understand that. I think most people feel that covering the walls with bookshelves would give the room a cramped feel.

Lovely library! I really like the white shelves against a coloured wall. And my dream is to have floor-to-ceiling shelves with the rolling library ladder so you can reach up high :)

Stepford Mom: Let's talk rolling library ladders for a minute....they look great in huge university libraries where you have limber (SP?) 20 year olds scampering up and down the rungs, and where you have a HUGE amount of empty space below for them to roll in, but the truth is, they're certainly not practical in a space like mine. My room is actually only 13x13...the shelves are only 10" deep so that keeps the space open...I didn't want to be tempted to double stack..

we do have one of those folding ladder/chairs which serves just fine to get to the paperback fiction paperbacks that line the entire circumference of the top shelf around the room. Otherwise we use one of those pole 'pluckers' like you used to see in old fashioned grocery stores.

I have shots of the other wall on my blog.

Thanks again Peter...lots of fun.(and it made me clean up a bit!)

I am so jealous of these beautiful bookshelves. Maybe when my oldest son leaves the house I will be able to transform his bedroom into my library/office.
